Mashi comes from the Hindi word "मषि", meaning Kaajal, a symbol deeply rooted in Indian tradition. While growing up, our Indian mothers used to put this kaajal on us to protect their children against evils of the outer world.
Adulting made us realize that in addition to this kaajal, we also needed ways to fall in love with ourselves—jewellery being the most feminine passage to that self-love.
Given the limited affordability of gold, we often have to put bars on how much of it we can own. That’s why we, at Mashi, came up with an alternative: Gold Vermeil Jewellery crafted with a base of Sterling Silver, lavishly coated with a thick layer of gold that enhances beauty just as much as gold at only a fraction of its price. It allows women to enjoy gold-like jewellery that pairs perfectly with their closets while helping them manage their finances more wisely.
